Peace Through Trade

Port Angeles harbor is a naturally deep harbor, allowing freighters, tankers, and deeper-draft ships to nestle in comfortabley. The harbor is a calm-watered body that is protected from Arctic currents by Ediz Hook, therefore the harbor is a safe place for ships to load & unload.

Because of these geographic features, the harbor of Port Angeles has served the city well in nautical trade and commerce, therefore, in 1999 as a gift to celebrate the Washington State centennial, the city was presented this bell enscripted with the phrase "Peace Through Trade" written in six different languages (English, Russian, Korean, Chinese, & Japanese) to celebrate trade amoung the major Pacific Rim countries.

This bell hangs outside The Landing building on the waterfront near Hollywood Beach and can be rung by the public.
